Matt Harris, Director, Global Event Management
I’ve been working in events for a good part of eight to ten years now, while I was at school, during school, I kind of fell into it so, I finished school then became an audio engineer for a year and a bit or so and just thought, well, there’s a lot more to an event than audio. So I decided to do an event management course just to broaden my knowledge and see what was out there and see how I found things and if I would want to pursue that area, which I found I did. And I enjoy the whole scheme of things rather than one aspect. There’s different aspects, whether you be doing a large show, outdoor show, a gala night, an indoor show. So I just wanted to master all areas in an event, not just master an audio or a lighting side of things.
So yeh, I've been, I did that for a year, then I started up my own company which is now called Global Event Management which deals with event management on a large scale. When I say large scale, large outdoor shows like site-managing Robbie Williams, Chilli Peppers, Wave Aid, Live Earth, mainly for one Promoter. So, and what that entails is the whole sheme of things of a large outdoor show. So that's what I do, that's what I specialise in and that's what I'm happy doing.
