What does Pamela love about working with volunteers?

I love working with volunteers. The last two organisations I’ve worked for have both been not for profit and both used volunteers a lot, not probably as much as Surf Lifesaving does in that we really rely on the volunteers. It’s a big drawcard for me personally but the biggest thing about working with volunteers is their dedication. They’re there because they want to be there, not because that’s their job and they’ve got to go to work. They’ve chosen to give their free time to turn up at the beach or to turn up at an event or whatever, and regardless of how much they have to do or how cold it is on the beach or if it’s raining or whatever they’re still enthusiastic about the role that they’ve got. And there’s that, I suppose, that feel-good factor for me as well, that even though I’m getting paid to do this job and I get days in lieu for the weekends I work and they don’t they still, it makes me feel better about what I’m doing for the community.
